Job Opportunity: Medical Director - Oncology (Global Medical Affairs Team)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Director with a specialization in Oncology to join our dynamic global Biotech Medical Affairs team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, client-centric environment, playing a crucial part in both our project teams and the broader company mission. Your expertise will be essential throughout the entire project life cycle, from partnering with global Business Development on requests for information to participating in bid defense meetings, enhancing our reputation as the partner of choice for our clients.

Location: This position is flexible and can be based remotely anywhere in the continental U.S. or at any of our U.S. ICON offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Protocol Development: Contribute to the creation of protocols and other study-related documents.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with regulators, key opinion leaders, senior management, and clients in meaningful discussions.

  • Training Delivery: Provide training to external project teams and ICON colleagues.

  • Medical Data Review: Evaluate medical data on indications, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and other issues to ensure project deliverables are met.

  • Expert Consultation: Share your medical expertise at investigator meetings, kick-off meetings, and client meetings.

  • Safety Oversight: Collaborate with our Drug Safety teams to assess Serious Adverse Events and develop Safety Management Plans, Pharmacovigilance Plans, and Risk Management Plans.

  • Client Relationship Management: Maintain a strong consultative relationship with clients throughout the project life cycle.

  • Medical Monitoring: Oversee medical monitoring activities.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Medical Credentials/Experience: Clinical Oncologist with adult solid-tumor experience is highly preferred. Board Certification (Oncology) or equivalent also preferred.

  • Industry Experience: Prior experience working within a CRO, Biotech, or Pharma company is highly desirable.

  • Therapeutic Expertise: Essential experience in the relevant therapy area, ideally with phase II-III studies, either in industry or as an Investigator.

  • Scholarly Contributions: Experience in writing clinical study reports, poster presentations, and manuscripts for publication in scientific journals is preferable.
