Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Security Engineer in Multiple Locations, United States

Microsoft Commerce + Ecosystems (C+E) organization is developing Microsoft's large scale and business critical backbone services to enpower e-commerce for all of Microsoft's key businesses: Azure, Office 365, Xbox, Microsoft Online Store, and ensure great customers, partners, develpers experiences critical to the overall success of Microsoft products and cloud services. We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Security Engineer with a demonstrated track record in security and software engineering to work across organization boundaries and to help driving continuous security posture improvement for a large multi-national division.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with broader security divisions across Microsoft, and engineering teams & business leaders throughout C+E organization, leveraging threat modeling, security design analysis, and threat intelligence analysis to examine chosen target systems in details, looking for vulnerabilities and weaknesses in architecture, identifying security flaws, damage potential and high risk areas, conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis over those patterns, making appropriate and concise security recommendations, and guiding engineering teams to implement those recommendations.

  • Triage security incident response for C+E organization as needed by providing technical depth and expertise.

  • Providing security consulting to ensure security requiremetns are met in early design & development phase,

  • Prototyping and creating scripts, tools and automations as appropriate to drive greater efficiency with high value.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience and extensive knowledge in cloud computing but not limited to Azure Cloud especially in the space of networking, Azure AD and other Azure products and features.

  • 4+ years’ experience, hands-on and deep understanding of software architecture principles, patterns, and security best practices.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Considerable professional experience and deep understanding of multiple cybersecurity domains: security protocols, classes of vulnerabilities, cryptography, digital identity & access management, secret management, threat hunting & modeling, digital forensics.

  • Experience in threat modeling and security analysis

  • An understanding of a broad set of technologies, languages, and platforms. Experience in technical disciplines outside the security space, including general software development, networking, database management, big data and full-stack development is a plus

  • Experience with data analytics and related technologies, preferrable Kusto (Azure Data Explorer) and PowerBI

  • Experience and extensive knowledge in cloud computing but not limited to Azure Cloud specially in the space of networking, Azure AD and other Azure products and features.

  • The ability to communicate clearly, and effectively, be able to adapt communication style per audience and simply complex concept to foster unified vision.

  • The ability to review conceptual problems and situations to draw appropriate and valid conclusions from data presented, recognize cause and effect relationships.

  • The ability to identify implications of data, draw conclusions, generate alternative and solutions, and provide recommendations & suggestions that add value to solution implementation and program delivery.

  • IT security certificates, ideally CISSP, Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect, Azure Security

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
