As a Senior Software Engineer on the Azure Capacity Infrastructure Service, you learn how both Azure backend services and business come together to make the cloud a reality. You’ll design, build, deploy, and run a distributed system to safely orchestrate Azure growth and expansion. You’ll develop as a thought leader with growth into people management.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of a reliable, scalable, secure Capacity Infrastructure Platform solution for 1st and 3rd party customers, contributing technical expertise throughout development stages.

  • Drives design, development and deployment of distributed systems components used globally by the Azure backend.

  • Model best security practices and drive improvements to ensure customer trust and reduce the exposure from potential security breaches.

  • Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.

  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve our products.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of experience with cloud-based services, distributed systems or backend systems development

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,

  • OR Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
