Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer - Senior Engineer DevTools in Multiple Locations, Australia

We are on the lookout for software engineers to lead the technical development of state-of-the-art software supply chain security products at Azure.

As a Software Engineer II / or Senior Engineer (DevTools), you will be responsible for designing and building products and solutions for strengthening the software secure supply chain security in the cloud-native ecosystem. You will be collaborating with other engineers to create designs and getting buy-in from the rest of the company and open-source communities like Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF). This position requires strong collaboration across team and organizational boundaries.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • You have at least 4 - 5 years + experience working at high-paced environment in a software engineering role, more if seeking a senior level

  • 4 -5 years min technical engineering experience and proficency coding in at least one language including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, Golang, JavaScript, or Python, more if seeking a senior level

  • Proven experience working with containers, container security and software secure supply chain ecosystem (ideally over 3 years)

  • Desire to work in open-source, communicating with both team members and open-source contributors asynchronously via GitHub, Slack, and regular community meetings on Zoom.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field OR equivalent experience / courses

  • Excellent communications skills and ability to work collaboratively across several teams and excellent problem-solving skills with ability to quickly adapt to new technology and go deep.

  • Solve problems by always leading with deep passion and empathy for customers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience writing Golangapplications.

  • Experience with containers, container security and software secure supply chain ecosystem.

  • Experience working with software build systems like GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines or others.

  • Experience working with software supply chain security build attestations, such as SBOMs and provenance, is a plus.

  • Experience with one or more Linux packaging solutions (such as apt, apk, yum, or others) are a plus.

  • Experience with dependabot or other dependency management systems is a plus.

  • Have a proven track record of remote work and ideally, experience contributing to open-source projects.

  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively and respectfully with external contributors. Our projects are not “Microsoft only”. We assist external contributors in the hopes of encouraging them to contribute to our designs and eventually become project maintainers themselves.

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
