Google Security Engineer, Silicon in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience in pen testing, vulnerability research or code-level security auditing.

  • Experience in one or more coding languages (e.g., C, C++) and scripting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, with an emphasis on computer architecture.

  • Experience in reverse engineering, static analysis or dynamic analysis (Fuzzing) or exploit development.

  • Experience in security reviews, pen testing, vulnerability analysis, finding and fixing security issues, etc.

  • Knowledge of security engineering, computer and network security, authentication, security protocols, and applied cryptography.

  • Understanding of threat modeling and risk-based security assessments.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $108,000-$158,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Conduct offensive security (red teaming) activities including vulnerability discovery, exploit development, mitigation recommendations.

  • Perform design reviews, threat modeling and security assessments.

  • Identify vulnerabilities via static, dynamic analysis (fuzzing), formal analysis and reverse engineering.

  • Apply system level knowledge of software and hardware security to improve overall system security and attack resistance.

  • Analyze root cause of the security issues, develop exploits, recommend mitigation strategies.
