How you will make 10x impact:
This project aims to push the limits of science and modeling as we know them and to prove how ML can radically accelerate our understanding of the world
Location: X's headquarters in Mountain View, CA
Start Date(s): Year-round rolling basis
Duration: a flexible 3 mo. to 1 year program based on project team needs and your availability

Responsibilities
Collaborating with Project Taara to applying AI to the project’s mission
Understanding the project’s challenges
Suggesting a number of ways in which AI can apply to those challenges
Building simulation models for real-world network deployments
Work closely with team members to implement solutions
Learning Moonshot thinking, attending tech talks.
Engaging with the X community during the program.
What you should have:
Currently enrolled in a PhD program in a STEM field such as CS, Engineering or Mathematics/Statistics with a strong interest in computer networking and machine learning.
Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Python, Java, C/C++.
Experience with network performance modeling and monte carlo simulation.
Experience with practical machine learning modeling, especially on time-series forecasting, analysis and inference.
It’d be great if you also had these:
Research experience in routing protocols, time-series analysis, predictive modeling.
Solid written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated personal passion to apply talents towards solving global problems.
A growth mindset: you want to learn as fast as possible, value feedback and are committed to grow fast in the role.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $118,000 - $145,000 + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
