Atlantic Health System Dietitian - Per Diem: Morristown Medical Center Healthy Communities Underserved Grant in Morristown, New Jersey

Community Nutritionist for MMC Healthy Communities Underserved Grant

  1. Identifies community nutrition needs and resources. Analyzes and makes recommendations for strategies and programs to improve the nutritional status of target populations.

  2. Conducts community assessments for the purpose of recommending and planning nutrition programming and delivery.

  3. Plans and delivers nutrition education programs for a variety of community groups. Considers educational level, socioeconomic and cultural factors, and stages of readiness to learn and change behaviors in preparing programs.

  4. Utilizes assessment and evaluation techniques that consider the varied needs of populations, as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns.

  5. Incorporates learning approaches that consider the cultural, religious, educational, and medical situation of clients or groups.

  6. Coordinates and refers clients to other providers and services as needed. Maintains appropriate documentation of services and contacts with clients.

  7. Demonstrates accountability for the proper use of patients’ protected health information.

  8. Attends selected national, state, and local meetings as necessary to stay abreast of trends and development in public health nutrition and specialty areas of practice.

  9. Interprets and disseminates current scientific information via written communications and public speaking.

  10. Evaluates nutrition education materials for accuracy, effectiveness, and adherence to standards of nutrition care. Selects, orders, and develops nutrition education materials as needed.

  11. Identifies opportunities to increase community awareness of public health nutrition services.

  12. Maintains dietetic registration and continuing education requirements.

  13. Participate in staff meetings, conferences, training sessions and workshops as assigned.

  14. Assist as a team member with other community health related events and responses.

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or related field

  2. Licensed with the State of New Jersey as a Registered Dietician
