Residential Student Services at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Secretary Specialist (Housing). The anticipated start date is August 1, 2024.Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. Morehead State University delivers a strong and affordable education for friendly, ambitious students who thrive in a student-focused learning environment defined by small class sizes and faculty committed to teaching and student success.RESPONSIBILITIES: The Secretary Specialist has the primary responsibility of assisting staff members with the daily operation of the housing office. The Secretary Specialist serves as the initial office contact, and is generally responsible for overall office management, applying University policies and procedures, conducting budget transaction, generating, processing requisitions and travel requests, inventorying supplies, and equipment, and dealing with sensitive and confidential matters. The Secretary Specialist must possess excellent communication skills, have a general knowledge of all University functions, make sound decisions, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively in an effort to create an environment that promotes student success.REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED equivalent and three years of office-related experience. The individual must demonstrate excellent grammatical, written, and verbal communication skills, in addition to good office and time management skills. Must have the ability to work with limited supervision, exercise decision-making skills, accept responsibility and perform duties in a collaborative environment. The applicant must demonstrate strong customer service orientation and computer proficiency with standard office applications.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with budget management and working with multiple professional staff at the same time is strongly preferred.SPONSORSHIP: This position is not budgeted for Visa Sponsorship.
