Mogo is looking for a Compliance Officer to join our Legal & Compliance Team. Reporting directly to our Chief Compliance Officer, collaborate closely with both the Legal and Compliance teams and provide regular support to other departments, ensuring our operations meet all regulatory requirements and uphold our commitment to integrity. The role requires proficiency with primary tools such as the Microsoft Suite and a high level of computer savviness. This position demands a detail-oriented approach, handling repetitive tasks with a focus on accuracy, and a thorough understanding of financial sector regulations.

The base salary for this role is: $75,000-$85,000CAD

What you’ll do:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and internal audits to identify potential areas of non-compliance and develop strategies to mitigate risks.

  • Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and industry trends to ensure that the company remains compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Provide guidance and support to internal teams on compliance-related matters, including product development, marketing, and customer service.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement compliance controls and processes within new products and initiatives.

  • Conduct investigations into compliance-related issues and develop corrective action plans as needed.

  • Prepare and submit regulatory filings, reports, and disclosures as required by regulatory authorities.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inquiries and examinations, and coordinate responses with relevant stakeholders.

  • Review and approve new portfolio management and EMD clients.

  • Review daily trades made by the Portfolio Managers.

  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs to employees to promote awareness and understanding of compliance requirements.

  • This is a remote position with standard working hours from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST

    What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, law, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CAMS, CFE, CRCM) preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in compliance roles within the financial services industry, preferably in a fintech or digital banking environment.

  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards, including but not limited to AML/CTF, KYC, consumer protection, and privacy laws.

  • Completion of Canadian Securities course, industry experience, Portfolio Management experience, and exempt market expertise strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and computer savvy.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and precision in repetitive tasks.

  • In-depth understanding of financial sector rules and regulations.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and apply them to practical business scenarios.

  • Proven ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
