As a scientific review officer, you can have a tremendous positive impact on the scientific community. Scientific Review Officers (SROs) have a tremendous positive impact on biomedical science by ensuring that the peer review process is fair, expert, and free of undue influence, allowing the identification of the most promising research for funding consideration by NIH. SROs utilize their scientific expertise, communication skills, and leadership skills to manage all aspects of convening a panel of experts to assess the scientific and technical merit of grant applications and conveying those assessments to funding institutes and centers.
