Community Medical and Dental Care Inc Doula in Monsey, New York

Community Medical and Dental Care is seeking a doula to assist our patients before, during, and after labor. The role involves offering emotional, physical, and informational assistance to enhance the birthing experience and foster positive outcomes for mother and baby.

Responsibilities:

  • Prenatal Support:

  • Meet with the expectant mother and family to discuss birth preferences and develop a birth plan.

  • Provide information on childbirth, pain management options, and postpartum care.

  • Offer emotional support and reassurance during pregnancy.

  • Assist with prenatal exercises and relaxation techniques.

  • Labor and Birth Support:

  • Provide continuous presence and support during labor and delivery.

  • Offer comfort measures such as massage, breathing techniques, and positioning to ease labor pain.

  • Facilitate communication between the mother and medical staff.

  • Help the mother understand and navigate medical interventions, if necessary.

  • Postpartum Support:

  • Offer guidance on breastfeeding and newborn care.

  • Provide emotional support and assistance with postpartum recovery.

  • Help with the transition to parenthood, offering resources and referrals as needed.

  • Conduct follow-up visit to ensure the well-being of mother and baby.

Qualifications:

  • Certified as a Doula through a recognized organization (e.g., DONA International, CAPPA).

  • Strong understanding of the childbirth process and postpartum recovery.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Compassionate, patient, and supportive demeanor.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with medical professionals.

  • Flexibility to be on-call for births, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Experience in providing emotional and physical support during labor and delivery.

  • Experience with various birthing techniques and comfort measures, preferred.

  • Knowledge of lactation support and breastfeeding education, preferred.
