Alerus Financial Investment Trading and Support Associate in Minnetonka, Minnesota

Description Position Summary: The Investment Trading and Support Associate will work with the Investment Team to support trading, analysis, information creation, investment reporting, compliance account reviews, and account management job functions. This position is responsible for the preparing, updating, analyzing and reviewing investment information, as well as managing investment accounts. This position will work with the Investment Team to provide timely reporting, develop and maintain presentation materials, and assist with the varied functions and responsibilities of the department. This position works with other professionals within the investment analysis team to support fiduciary investment services provided to 401(k) and other retirement plan clients. It also includes being a resource to client service staff by answering investment related questions and providing support during the new account set-up process. Essential Responsibilities: Job Function 1: Investment Department Trading and Support - 55% Account Management Monitor accounts for compliance with investment models. Execute in a timely manner investment action requests. Execute necessary trades in a timely and accurate manner. Complete account compliance reviews in a timely manner. Fixed Income and Equity Trading Trade individual fixed-income securities. Utilize analytic tools to model fixed-income portfolios so as to identify which fixed income securities are appropriate to trade. Analyze equities using BARRA for equity purchase or sell recommendations. Enter specified trades in Smartleaf. Investment Information and Analysis Prepare investment information for SIRC. Research, process and analyze financial data as needed. Stay current on capabilities and applications of all analytic tools used in the department. Blueprint Account Onboarding and Trading Onboard new accounts in a timely and accurate manner. Model and trade accounts in a timely and accurate manner. Job Function 2: ARB Support Mutual Fund Duties - 35% Compliance Reviews Review each new advisory retirement plan within 60 days of opening and all existing retirement plans on an annual basis to ensure proper investments are used and necessary paperwork is on file. Prepare clients lists and reply to questions from the compliance department regarding client data, correct coding of clients and account paperwork. Create and update Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) for all roles and responsibilities performed. Quarterly Reporting Own quarterly reporting by working with outside reporting vendor and organizing the quarterly reporting process. Work with reporting vendor on an ongoing basis to ensure data is accurate and address any issues. Update fact sheets with performance information on a quarterly basis. Mutual Fund Trading Review new account investments vs. Alerus buy list of investments, create and submit fund change request forms to change investment menus to Alerus line up and map retirement plan assets. On a periodic basis, create and submit fund change request forms for retirement plans when changes are made by Alerus retirement plan investment group. On a daily basis, review Alerus collective funds for available cash and transaction requests. Determine when cash is outside of established thresholds and place mutual fund and exchange traded fund requests to properly align the funds with their targets. Investment Information Requests Calculate and provide documentation for the best performing fund in a retirement plan within a specific time period. Create and post mutual fund lists with updated information on a quarterly basis and as needed. Support client facing and operational groups with mutual fund information on a periodic basis. Job Function 3: Investment Information, Advisor Support and Compliance - 10% Investment Information Prepare investment information for the investment department. Maintain information posted for sales force. Develop and update customer communication and presentation aterials. Maintain economic conditions documentation. Provide performance measurement, portfolio review information, and presentation materials as needed. Assist in completing requests for proposals. Create fact sheets for Collective Funds/Dimension/Blueprint Draft performance attribution for fixed income and equity. Audit, Compliance and Risk Controls Support department in completing requests of information from Audit and Compliance departments. Document, maintain, and implement appropriate risk controls. Advisor Support Develop customer communication and presentation materials related to performance measurement and portfolio review as needed; support WM advisors on issues related to account and performance data of existing accounts. Assist in marketing material development. Assist wealth management advisors in completing requests for proposals for new accounts. Position Requirements: Qualifications: Degree in Financial Management, Banking or Economics or other relevant degree or equivalent work experience required. Demonstrated strong interest in investments, financial markets and personal finance. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and computer and internet savvy. Ability to learn new software, including, FactSet, Barra, Bondedge, Bloomberg, Smarteaf, Morningstar Direct Quantitative and qualitative analysis skills. Personal Characteristics: Established interpersonal and negotiating skills. Attention to detail. Ability to manage the stressful nature of work and maintain professional composure, attitude, and behavior at all events. Proven problem solver. Work well in team environment. Proven written and verbal communication skills. Time management skills. Physical Demands - Must be met with or without a reasonable accommodation: Extended periods of time sitting at a desk and using office equipment. Ability to operate a personal computer/laptop for approximately 8 hours per day. Extended time is spent reviewing physical and electronic documents. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Periodically, may also do light lifting of supplies and materials which weighs in at approximately 20 lbs. Will spend most of time in an indoor environment.
