Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency Staff Nurse RN (Casual) - Cancer Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota
*SUMMARY* We are currently seeking aCasualStaff Nurseto join our Cancer Center in downtown Minneapolis, MN.
*Note: If you are currently in a benefit earning position and apply for this casual position you will be decreasing your current hours to casual with no benefits. *
/CASUAL NURSE: Casual nurses are nurses who have no regular appointed scheduled hours (no assigned FTE). Nurses may not have a casual position and a regularly scheduled position within the same facility. Casual nurses must make themselves available to work a minimum of two (2) open 8-hour minimum length or the equivalent number of hours per four (4)-week scheduling period at straight time, a minimum of one shift must be a weekend shift. Casual nurses must also make themselves available to work two (2) of the following holiday shifts per calendar year: New Year's Day, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. Holiday shifts must be full eight or twelve hour shifts. A minimum of one of the holidays must be a winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's)./
*RESPONSIBILITIES*
Within the context of the Hennepin Healthcare System Relationship-Based Care practice model, and under general supervision, the registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care by:
- Protecting, promoting wellness and optimizing health
- Triaging patients by assessing severity of symptoms and referral to appropriate setting or level of care
- Alleviating suffering through the treatment of the human response
- Partnering with the patient, their family and significant others
- Documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care
- Educating patient on their disease process
- Assuring continuity of care
- Educating patient and family in preventative care which promotes health and well being
_QUALIFICATIONS:_ Minimum Qualifications * Graduation from an accredited school of nursing * Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota * 1 year of current oncology professional nursing (RN) experience * OCN certified or able to obtain certification within 2 years of hire date * Chemo administration experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in area of clinical specialty
- Chemo/Biotherapy course
- Inpatient Oncology experience
- BSN Preferred. Bachelor of Nursing degree is strongly encouraged. Advancement in academic education will be discussed as part of individual professional development during the annual performance review. /This role is paid based on the Inpatient pay scale./
