The pay range is $89,700.00 - $161,500.00

As a Senior Logistics Manager – TMS Optimization , you are responsible for managing the daily TMS – Transportation Management System (Blue Yonder) Optimization of Target’s Domestic First Mile freight, rethinking how our network could look in the future to drive systematically driven cost savings, managing intake of new requests from multiple business owners and owning the vision for the future of freight optimization at Target.

This individual will lead the development and implementation of innovative TMS strategies through cross functional systemic solutions through owned work as well as leading work through relationship management across multiple critical business and technology owners. This individual will ensure that Target’s DFM network maintains an effective TMS optimization solution that supports Target’s broader supply chain and organizational goals and maintains the appropriate balance between cost, capacity and service. One of the key initiatives this individual will lead will be the routing and optimization arm of the Mile Agnostic initiative, a key Global Transportation priority striving to break down existing siloes across critical business process and technology functions.

Responsibilities

  • Leverages strong leadership skills for the creation and ongoing iteration of routing and optimization strategy through collaboration with senior leadership & operational, procurement and technology partners

  • Maintains comprehensive understanding of Target transportation network to create innovative and successful TMS routing/optimization solutions

  • Leads routing and optimization strategy through in-depth understanding of Blue Yonder TMS solution and its customized use at Target (inclusive of strategy and parameter file utilization, tariff structure, optimization structure and function, etc)

  • Ability to lead and manage without reporting structure authority in a cross functional environment to deliver against a common goal

  • Delivers creative problem solutions that balances system capabilities with requests of business and technology owners

  • Establishes and maintains effective partnerships with operational and technology partners. Demonstrated ability to establish effective partnership with external Blue Yonder team.

  • Presents routing and optimization strategy and subsequent results to partners and senior leadership regularly

  • Provides informed perspective to help lead routing and optimization program across Domestic First Mile, inclusive of day-to-day operation, theoretical modeling efforts and technical support of solutions built around Target’s TMS solution

  • Monitors, reviews performance of and provides regular updates on implemented changes with operational teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and 7 years of progressive supply chain, logistics or transportation experience

  • Proven experience with technical aspects of Blue Yonder TMS (or equivalent), ideally with a large complex national shipper

  • Proven ability to efficiently solve complex problems and create strategy

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skillset

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate through all levels of the organization including senior leadership

  • Clear communication and presentation skills

  • Strong relationship management skills: preferred experience managing vendor/carrier relationships

  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate with multiple business partners (internal and external)

  • Strong proficiency and ability to understand, manipulate and pull insights from large data sets

  • Strong technical acumen across SQL & Python

  • Strong understanding of transportation industry, specifically truckload and intermodal

  • Experience managing large, complex projects
