Work with staff to ensure compliance with university and federal safety regulations. Help ensure that investigator's lab is compliant with animal and other protocols. Assist in the supervision and training of undergraduate students. 50% Independent Research: Execute a research project related to the neural and behavioral processes underlying drug addiction and relapse under the supervision of the PI and/or a senior laboratory member. Maintain detailed records of all experiments and procedures in lab notebooks as well as in online databases and project management tools. Review relevant scientific literature and summarizing findings periodically in meetings or in writing. Qualifications All required qualifications must be documented on application materials Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences or a combination of related education and work experience equal to four years is required. Individual must be willing and able to handle/work with rodents. Individual must be highly motivated and demonstrate a desire to learn. Preferred Qualifications: An educational background in neuroscience, psychology or a related field preferred. Any research experience in a basic science laboratory setting for at least 1 year. Experience with basic laboratory techniques. Strong organizational and communications skills, and the ability to work independently and in a group setting. Experience with computers and programming. About the Department The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Minnesota is one of six basic science departments in the Medical School. The well-funded research programs of our primary faculty members focus on understanding and developing better treatments for cancer, addiction and the opioid crisis, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, and metabolic syndrome.
