RBC Principal Technology Architect in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Summary Job Description What is the opportunity? As a technology leader in the RBC US Technology team, the Principal Technology Architect will work as a senior lead on strategic engagements that span multiple lines of business by leading the delivery of the architectural vision and strategy through solution architecture and strategy development. Key to this is creating effective partnerships and collaborating with business and technology colleagues among the respective businesses. The role is primarily concerned with the development, socialization, and delivery of new technical strategies and key assessments, which includes developing and delivery of solution architectures, and the facilitation of governance review and approvals. What will you do? Develop Solution Architectures and Strategies Working within a highly collaborative and collegiate culture to define end to end technical solutions that meet business objectives while aligning to US business and enterprise architecture strategies and patterns. Evaluate solution alternatives based upon business and technology strategy objectives, while considering existing capabilities, and identifying gaps. Work closely with stakeholders to identify material design points and decisions, present solution options, and facilitate decision making and direction setting. Work across functional teams (data, cyber, integration, IAM, development, infrastructure, etc.) to ensure that all aspects of the solution architecture are captured, aligned, and vetted. Clearly communicate and build rapport with team members, stakeholders and interface groups using a variety of techniques and collaboration from project initiation to closure. Facilitate small to large group meetings for reviewing technical architecture, decision making and problem solving. Strategic Planning and Alignment Develop and implement tech strategies aligned with overall US business objectives. This includes analyzing current state across the US LOBs, market trends, identifying the opportunities for the optimization, unification, innovation, and ensuring alignment with the long-term goals. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration Foster strong relationships with stakeholders across US businesses and technology teams. Collaborate closely to understand business needs, gather requirements, and prioritize technology initiatives accordingly. Technology Roadmap Development Create and maintain a comprehensive technology roadmap for the US. This involves identifying and prioritizing key projects, defining milestones, and timelines, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and resource availability. Collaboration, Partnership, and Innovation Focus on forging strong relationships with all stakeholders including FinTech companies, industry partners, and RBC COEs. By fostering a culture of collaboration, RBC US can tap into all internal and external expertise, cutting-edge technologies, and navigate reg landscape more effectively. This approach enables RBC US to stay agile, innovate faster, and deliver value-based solutions to clients while mitigating risks and ensuring compliance. What do you need to succeed? Must-have Bachelor's degree in a technical field of study (computer science, engineering, etc.) or equivalent work experience in a technical leadership and/or solution architecture capacity. 10-12 years of experience in technical leadership, technology strategic planning, and enterprise level system development in the financial tech/service industry. Enterprise-Level system Building: Solid background of designing, building, and leading development of enterprise level systems, including experience in system architectures, scalability, integration, rationalization, and performance optimization. Demonstrated experience with large program/projects involving complex integration across disparate technologies, vendor providers and partners. Ability to meaningfully visualize, depict, and convey complex concepts to a broadly diverse audience Project management: Proficiency in project management methodologies to oversee the execution of technology initiatives and ensure timely delivery. Broad Business Acumen: Understanding of core banking, capital markets, cash management, payments, and myriad of business processes, industry trends, and competitive landscape to inform technology strategies. Nice-to-have Advanced degree in computer science, MBA, or related fields Industry product development and/ involvement Extensive experience with regulatory reporting and controls A background in consulting and/or professional services engagements Enterprise governance, risk, and finance experience What's in it for you?
