Also, on assisting in tension sensing and mechanotransduction projects in diverse cell lines and disease models. The Postdoctoral Associate will also participate in the day-to-day supervision of technical staff (Junior Scientists) and undergraduate students integral to achieving project goals, in drafting manuscripts that communicate the study's findings for publication in peer-reviewed manuscripts. Finally, the Postdoctoral Associate will actively participate in lab meetings and local seminars, and will represent/promote the project at relevant national meetings. Essential Functions: 70%: Experimental design and implementation Design and perform experiments to assess the phenotype of dystrophic mice expressing transgenic dystrophin molecules bearing disease-causing missense mutations. 10% % 10 Training/supervision of technicians and undergraduate students Train new technical staff in standard phenotype assessment and supervise data acquisition on a day-to-day basis 15% Drafting extramural research proposals and manuscripts reporting study results Will work with direct supervisor to plan and draft research grants to continue project as well as manuscripts reporting study results 5% Participation in seminars, journal clubs and symposia Will present at least 1 formal seminar per year (locally or at a relevant national meeting) and attend relevant local seminars and journal clubs Qualifications Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Biochemistry with first authorship on at least 1 peer-reviewed research publication. Ph.D., DDS, DVM, JD, MD or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications: 5 years of experience with recombinant protein expression in multiple expression systems, purification and characterization, in vitro protein stability assays, muscle cell culture (including generation of transgenic lines), , biochemical and migratory analyses, as well as implementation of intracellular tension sensors and image data analysis.
