In this role, you will support research related to the 3D printing functional materials & devices (including semiconducting electronics). This includes performing routine experiments, maintaining lab equipment, promoting a safe working environment, and providing technical leadership of the 3D Electronics Center (3DE). The Laboratory Technician will work closely with all members of the research team, including the PI, group manager, students, and postdoctoral researchers. Duties/responsibilities: Assist in designing research projects, conducting experiments, and reporting data Maintain lab equipment in proper working order and create user manuals and guides for printing procedures Maintain a clean and organized work area, purchasing appropriate equipment and supplies as needed and removing hazardous and chemical waste Facilitate the practice of safe work habits among lab members, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations Provide technical leadership of 3D Electronics Center Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required qualifications: BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, and one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience to equal five (5) years. Experience working with and building 3D printing systems Ability to effectively troubleshoot technical issues Preferred qualifications: Experience in fabricating and printing functional materials & devices Experience contributing to scientific publications Experience working with intellectual property and patents Good teamwork skills Excellent attention to detail Verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team About the Department The Department of Mechanical Engineering has an internationally recognized faculty, and is part of the College of Science and Engineering, the highly interdisciplinary college of engineering, physical sciences, and mathematics.
