The SNS aims to gather parents' input on developing a healthy weight management intervention to be provided in coordination with the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) Summer Meal Program. This year-long qualitative, community-based participatory research project is led by Dr. Jiwoo Lee in the School of Nursing at the University of Minnesota. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Participant recruitment and consent (10%) Recruit 30 parent participants following the study protocol. Complete the informed consent process. Address participant inquiries and concerns regarding the study. Focus group preparation and facilitation (40%) Assist in developing focus group protocols and materials as needed. Schedule focus group sessions with help from an undergraduate research assistant. Facilitate focus group discussions effectively. Ensure accurate recording and transcription of focus group sessions and compliance with ethical standards and research protocols. Data analysis and dissemination (40%) Collaborate with the undergraduate research assistant and study investigators to analyze qualitative data from focus groups. Identify and categorize key themes, patterns, and insights from the data. Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings. Contribute to disseminating study results to investigators, participants, and academic audiences. Other duties (10%) Complete all required IRB and study-specific training. Actively participate in regular team meetings. Maintain organized records of participant consent forms, focus group data, and other study documents. Perform additional duties as needed based on project requirements and the applicant's interests and expertise. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field. Experience in conducting qualitative research, including focus group facilitation and data analysis. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse participants. Proficiency in qualitative data analysis software (e.g., Dedoose). Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in community-based participatory research, public presentations, and academic writing. Familiarity with the USDA Summer Meal Program or similar public health initiatives. Experience managing and mentoring undergraduate research assistants.
