Apply for Job Job ID361442 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyEducation-General Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code8315A2 Employee ClassCivil Service Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job About the Job Job Duties (training provided): 40% - Preparation for Lab Courses in years 1-3 of DVM curriculum * Lab set-up and clean-up * Prosection (dissection of demonstration specimens) for anatomy courses * Collaborate with other course instructors to develop instructional materials; re-design and update existing course materials * Self preparation for in-lab teaching (reading, practicing techniques, running simulations, etc.) 35% - Assist in Lab Courses (contact time with students) in years 1-3 of DVM curriculum * In-lab teaching and support and office hours with students * Teach basic animal handling and restraint as well as basic clinical skills 10% - Support Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences Department * Provide lab support for the Companion Animal Anatomy undergraduate course * Anatomy lab space management and annual safety training * Supply ordering and inventory management * Oversee student workers 5% - Assist with laboratory exams, grading, and general lab course support * Assist faculty with set-up, proctor, and clean-up of lab practical examinations * Assist faculty with grading of laboratory exams when/if there is availability in the schedule 5% - Management of Pup professors program * Recruit and schedule clinician, staff, and student dogs used in live animal lab sessions * Maintain consent forms and dog/owner-specific information and schedule spreadsheets 5% - Other duties as assigned * Additional duties may include evaluation of learning system design and recommendation of changes for improvement in laboratory teaching, specimen preparation, assisting in preparation and dissemination of teaching materials, coordination with student organizations, IACUC inspections, controlled substance management, and facilities tours. Qualifications All required qualifications must be documented on application materials Required Qualifications: BA/BS with at least 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal six years. Anatomy instruction and dissection experience and/or experience in teaching/mentoring. Demonstrated ability to work in a varied and fast paced environment. Demonstrated ability to collaborate using online tools. Preferred Qualifications: * AAS and/or BS/BA degree in related field of study * Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) * Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds * Experience with Microsoft office, Excel Google platform and Canvas About the Department The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine affects the lives of animals and people every day through educational, research, service, and outreach programs.
