Summary

This position is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the activities associated with managing Kraus-Anderson’s (KA) self-perform team. The position will work closely with the company’s operations team to identify and recommend opportunities to self-perform.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with senior leadership to assist in developing the strategy for KA’s self-perform line of business.

  • Leads the execution and implementation of KA’s self-perform business strategy.

  • Communicates effectively with senior leadership regarding initiatives and progress related to self-perform.

  • Assists in and makes recommendations regarding the selection, hiring and training of self-perform administrative members.

  • Manages the day-to-day administrative activities of the Self-Perform team, in collaboration with the field operations team, including assignments and workflow.

  • Reviews opportunities for self-perform team and makes recommendations as to which projects to pursue.

  • Leads the review of project plans, specifications and schedules, and preparation of estimates for self-perform scope.

  • Trains and mentors administrative staff in all aspects of the self-perform work and collaborates with the field operations team.

  • Ensures bids are completed on time.

  • Leads the collaboration with internal KA stakeholders, to develop -specific quality plans and best practices, estimating templates, and project budgets, respectively.

  • Reviews monthly cost projections for all projects and presents to senior leaders.

  • Identifies, collaborates, and coordinates with field operations’ labor requirements for projects.

  • Develops relationships with KA Yard operations, local suppliers and vendors to secure best pricing.

  • Develops material procurement and delivery strategies to ensure materials are sourced, fabricated and delivered in an efficient and cost effective manner.

  • Develops schedules and establishes work plan for self-perform work in cooperation with project teams.

  • Leads the preparation of project-specific work plans and communicates to project teams.

  • Ensures pre-installation meetings and kick off meetings are being set up and held on site prior to self perform work beginning.

  • Works with Safety Department to develop task-specific safety protocols for self-perform.

  • Confers with project staff to outline work plans and assign duties and responsibilities.

  • Coordinates activities with project staff and field crews to ensure project progress within prescribed budget and schedule and provides technical advice when necessary.

  • Ensures monthly billings are prepared accurately and on time.

  • Makes sure daily reports, work orders, time entry, production tracking and all other necessary administrative work is completed accurately and on time.

  • Updates schedules on a monthly basis.

  • Assists the Safety Department in an effort to enforce the corporate safety and health policies and procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 10 years related work experience or equivalent work and education

  • Ability to develop, maintain and strengthen partnerships with others inside and outside the organization who can provide information, assistance and support

  • Ability to lead and work with others cooperatively; recognize and reward people for their achievements; and provide honest and constructive feedback to direct reports and cross-functional partners; identifies and promptly addresses performance and morale issues

  • Proficient in related software programs such as Excel, Word, Access, Adobe products, Microsoft project

  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn new software

  • Experience working with WinEst estimating software

  • Proficient with building construction sequencing and building systems interface

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

  • Forward thinking and cutting edge industry awareness.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience leading a team

Other:

  • Valid Driver's License, ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record, and ability to adhere to the KA Motor Vehicle Policy.

  • Travel up to 50% of time.
