JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will collaborate with product engineers and designers to enhance and modernize technical applications. Act as DevOps point of contact and ensure utilized deployment tools meet enterprise standards. Practice Agile methodologies to implement and deliver software solutions. Participate in daily standup and bi-weekly sprint planning meetings to ensure productivity level is as expected. Perform independent testing. Utilize and create Java Spring Boot services, NodeJS services using JavaScript. Build REST APIs to integrate with other applications. Ensure security of services by updating packages and libraries when vulnerabilities are found. Create performant SQL queries on MySQL and DB2 databases. Create and maintain new automated test suites using Kevlar and unit tests using Junit for new features. Create test scenarios and test data to perform testing and ensure all situations are covered. Use Git and GitLab for source code version control. Create and update Gradle and Maven build files, Docker files, and Kubernetes manifests for deployment of services to non-production and production environments. Telecommuting permitted. Requires a Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related field plus 3 years of experience as a software developer or in a related occupation.
