Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Job Description
This position supports all manufacturing areas by repairing, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance on all plant and processing-related equipment and systems.
Responsibilities
Report to a maintenance supervisor and interact with all hourly and salaried maintenance and production personnel.
Quickly and accurately troubleshoot major plant and processing equipment problems.
Perform scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance on plant and processing equipment.
Collaborate with maintenance supervisors to develop and implement new ideas to improve productivity.
Ensure adequate stocking levels of spare parts to fully support all equipment.
Regularly review system performance, identify problems and concerns, and recommend or implement technological changes to improve overall performance.
Work on all mechanical jobs traditionally performed by both the millwright and the pipe shop, and assist in the packaging areas as needed.
Prepare reports and maintain records as needed, using CMMS (SAP) to create work orders and complete PMs.
Fabricate, install, maintain, and repair all types of processing, packaging, and conveying equipment, including stands, motor bases, platforms, and electric motors requiring rigging, handling, or alignment.
Install and maintain pumps requiring millwright skills such as rigging and alignment.
Maintain building components such as doors, fences, walls, floors, loading and unloading facilities, elevators, man lifts, hoists, and air compressors.
Repair, maintain, install, and remove various equipment, including stone mills, pulverizers, refiners, hydraulic presses, fanners, misers, roasters, dryers, sifters, case elevators, depositors, vibrating feeders, bucket elevators, and gearboxes.
Fabricate production and processing equipment from construction prints, making necessary calculations for pulley speed changes, gears, and sprockets, and selecting proper chain sizes, belts, and pulleys for repairs or replacements.
Install and modify complete production lines from layout prints and engineering direction.
Utilize millwright shop practices and procedures.
Install and repair pneumatic equipment requiring tools common to the craft.
Use all rigging equipment such as snatch blocks, chain falls, hoist ropes, cables, slings, dollies, and come-alongs.
Perform bench layout work using scribes, dividers, parallels, etc., related to the craft.
Install, maintain, and repair piping systems throughout the plant, including steam and water lines, heating and cooling coils, product pipelines, air lines, hydraulic lines, sprinklers, filters, control valves, sewer lines, and drains.
Maintain process and fluid-type pumps, including clean-out, packing, gland replacement, couplings, and other minor repairs in the field, and remove and replace process and fluid-type pumps up to 3 inches in size.
Apply pipefitting theory, including pipe schedules, pipe threads, application of fittings, and pressures.
Make shop calculations for angles, bends, etc., for proper pipe sizes influenced by flow and pressure requirements.
Operate and use all hand and power tools related to the craft, such as power threaders, cut-off saws, drill presses, and sewer cleaners.
Perform hydrostatic and pressure tests on all plant fluid and vapor piping systems and vessels.
Actively participate in a self-development training program designed to dramatically increase technical proficiencies.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Ability to read and perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Thorough knowledge of maintenance principles and practices, with the interpersonal and technical skills to repair mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation problems positively and professionally.
Ability to react proficiently and positively to machinery and system breakdowns and equipment problems.
The primary challenge is to improve overall efficiencies through effective mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation troubleshooting and repair.
Ability to effectively communicate with project engineers to ensure packaging projects meet technical objectives.
Positive attitude and self-motivation, with a willingness to work in all facets of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation to upgrade overall skills.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $39.00/hr.
