About you and this role:

This role leads the identification and prioritization of all plant/technology improvement opportunities with higher impact across the Elastomers Envelope. Achieves and sustains business competitive advantage by leading and leveraging the prioritization of all plant improvement opportunities and supporting businesses to prioritize resources developing and implementing long term Site strategy.

As a Learning Leader oversees the on-going development and leveraged delivery of a functional/business learning strategy for the organization. Ensures alignment with the corporate and M&E learning strategy to support a highly reliable and sustainable workforce. Partners with the organization’s leadership to ensure learning objectives are accomplished. Enables an effective knowledge transfer for new employees and ensures long term maintenance and a continual increase of knowledge for current employees.

As Operational Excellence Leader is responsible for driving continuous improvement in management systems, work process discipline, and operational excellence for the facility with the goal of achieving site and business EHS&S, production, and cost targets.

Leads one or more teams of professional individual contributors which may also include technical operations, business operations, or operational support employees. Sets priorities and allocates resources to align with business objectives and plans of execution. As a leader, fosters a work environment with a high level of integrity and strong customer and safety focus that embraces inclusion and diversity, innovation and sustainability, continuous improvement and empowerment.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Responsible for prioritization of work for technical staff

  • Responsible to drive role discipline

  • Strong advocate for EHS&S, management systems and financial discipline as well as RCI (Root Cause Investigation) Team Leader Coaching

  • Lead department strategy for continuous improvement and process safety compliance

  • Help team navigate technical issues in the plant and break down barriers to improvement

  • Establishes a learning network within the organization to implement the learning strategy, and associated plans which will meet global, business and functional learning objectives. Represents site, region, business or function in appropriate global or regional learning network. Serves as the organization’s learning representative to appropriate internal and external teams or networks

  • Establishes and ensure ongoing resource support for a learning organizational structure to implement the learning strategy consistent with the principles of a highly reliable and sustainable organization

  • Initiates the development of learning resources to support the organization’s learning strategy utilizing Instructional System Design

  • Oversees development and implementation of role curricula consistent with the organization’s learning strategy. Coaches local curriculum owners on curriculum design, implementation and maintenance

  • Supports global learning improvement and other projects, as applicable. Develops and drives learning improvement opportunities and communicates to the global, business or functional learning network as appropriate

  • Manages site, business, or function learning budget as applicable

  • Works with site leadership, Make Product Work Process (MPWP) support roles, and associated change leaders to coordinate effective utilization of the work processes (WP), enabling tools and organizational design

  • Provides coaching to leaders and organization on management systems and work processes

  • Reviews/defines Operational Excellence (OpEx) metrics for the site in line with Site and Business goals

  • Provides leadership to the tactical support for OpEx including Training Coordinator, Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) Coordinator, Document Management System (DMS) coordinator and digital tools focal point, as well as other roles as needed to meet the leadership needs of the organization

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree

  • A minimum of 7 years engineering, manufacturing or related experience

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous leadership experience

  • Degree in a Science or Technical related field

  • Change management training

  • RCI Team Leader experience and ability to coach RCI Facilitators
