POSITION SUMMARY
Position is the beginner level operator for division. Operates all street dept. vehicles and equipment, and performs
manual labor in the process of street repair, street construction, infrastructure construction, snow removal and
other street related duties.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Receive assignment from Street Manager or Public Utilities Director.
Perform task to best of ability and accomplish project through use of equipment in a safe and effective
manner.
Operate radio and/or other communication equipment of the department in an appropriate manner and
use of appropriate language.
Fuel, lubricate, and replace worn parts on equipment; making minor repairs as needed.
Submit a daily worksheet that details state of equipment used.
Responsible for housekeeping, maintenance duties and other related activities for the general upkeep of
the worksite and work facilities.
Responsible for safe, efficient operation of City equipment and supplies, observing all applicable safety
rules and/or standards.
May respond to citizens questions, concerns, or complaints in a courteous and helpful manner. Relay
questions/concerns outside their expertise to Street Manager or Public Utility Director.
Operates the following equipment: dump truck, tractor mower, spray paint machine, oil emulsion truck,
backhoe truck and trailer combinations and compaction rollers, cut off saw, side broom, air compressor,
jack hammer and chain saws.
Note any street sign that does not comply with MUTCD Manual, any intake that is need of repair, any
potholes in need of patching and submit for replacement or repair.
Operate equipment for snow and ice removal, including distribution of sand and other such materials to
minimize icy road conditions.
Ability to lay asphalt, pour concrete, form, and pour concrete curb and gutter, paint lines on streets, crack
seal, seal coat, replace or repair storm water pipes, replace or repair water and sewer lines, patch utility
cuts, patch potholes, and clean storm drain intakes.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School diploma or GED with specialized schooling in equipment operation preferred.
Experience: 0 to six months of working on street crew having learned all facets of the street work and how to
use equipment is preferred.
Computer Skills: Basic Computer Skills
Certificates & Licenses: Valid Class B Oklahoma Drivers License within 6 months of hire date.
Driving record must be acceptable with insurance carrier.
Must obtain forklift certification within (1) year of hire date.
Other Requirements: Cannot operate a backhoe, track hoe or gradall without supervision.
