General Description (Purpose and Function):

This individual will be responsible for assisting with credentialing, operating room schedules and reconciliation of records. Employee will review records for compliance with Case Management System (CMS) and Office of Compliance guidelines. Will be responsible for daily records coding for charge entry, insurance information and will work directly with the billing office and other assigned personnel, including surgeons, acting as liaison for the billing and credentialing offices.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort):

• Codes daily records with all necessary information for charge entry; including CPT codes, DX codes.

• Verifies insurance information such as financial class, authorizations, case numbers, etc.

• Batches all records by date of service for charge entry.

• Works directly with Billing office staff and faculty (surgeons/anesthesiologists) to obtain accurate information.

• Prior to batching, reviews all medical records to ensure 100% compliance with CMS and Office of Compliance guidelines.

• Works with faculty to ensure all medical records are in compliance.

• Responsible for daily acquisition of the Operating Room schedules and reconciliation of records.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to work independently with little supervision.

• Ability to work as an integral team member in a complicated environment.

• Ability to show tolerance and sensitivity in stressful situations.

• Possesses high degree of dependability.

• Proven experience with Personal Computers (PC) and Microsoft software.

• Requires excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with physicians, co-workers, other professionals and departments, and patients of all ages.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

• One (1) year of relevant experience required. Experience preferred but not required in billing, credentialing and use of EPIC system.
