Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - General Medicine

Medina Hospital's 2 South is a General Medicine Unit known for its compassionate, comprehensive, and patient-first patient care, highly skilled nursing team and engaging work environment. Featuring 25 patient beds, caregivers in this unit are responsible for managing pre-surgical patients and patients needing antibiotic treatment and wound care, advanced dressing changes, and bedside thoracentesis/paracentesis.

A caregiver in this position works 7:00PM - 7:30AM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Collect, document and report patient data and observations.

  • Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.

  • Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.

  • Perform routine laboratory tests.

  • Educate patients and family members.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.

  • Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • One year of patient care experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination.

  • Involves extensive standing and walking.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
