Job Summary and Qualifications
To assure the delivery of quality pharmacy service by adequately managing drug information and appropriateness of therapy, so that all drug therapy for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients are selected, dispensed, administered and documented with absolute accuracy and according to currently accepted policies and practice. To assure the department complies with the minimum standards of hospital pharmacies (American Society of Hospital Pharmacist) as well as the pharmacy standards and recommendations of the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospital Organizations.
What you will do in this role:
Provides clinical recommendations to hospital committees
Interacts to improve drug efficacy, safety and cost (with medical staff)
Utilizes all available drug information resources as needed
Serves as clinical resource to pharmacist staff
Provides staff development education to pharmacist areas
Maintains current clinical practice expertise in multiple areas
Provides kinetic dosing assistance, as needed
Supports M.U.E. studies of the P & T Committee
Recommends formulary action to the P & T committee
Provides clinical assistance as needed to maintain JCAHO compliance
Participates in required continuing education programs and in-service
Contributes to the learning of new employees, students, floats & agency personnel.
Participates and provides input in staff meetings.
Maintains departmental attendance standards as per hospital-wide policy.
Maintains confidentiality.
Efficient and effective in daily performance, uses time management skills to be a productive member of the department’s team.
Follows through with tasks / problems and gives necessary feedback. Promptly investigates and follows up on unusual incidents and communicates with supervisors.
What qualifications you will need:
Pharmacist, Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
Bachelors Degree, or Masters Degree
