The Union County Coroner is now hiring a full-time Investigator to provide crime scene and investigation support to our rapidly growing community. Under general supervision of the Coroner, the Investigator performs post-mortem examinations of bodies and investigates deaths of persons; consults with law enforcement agencies; testifies in court; photographs and documents death scenes. Performs other related duties as assigned.

The Union County Coroner's Office serves a population of approximately 64,971 citizens and performs 250-300 investigations per year. Our office has strong professional relationships with the medical community, criminal justice system, and referring coroners.

QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of a secondary education (high school diploma or GED); two (2) or more years of experience in a medical related field; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be capable of passing a criminal background investigation. Must also be willing to work on call and report to duty on evenings and weekends, as needed. 

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Must possess a Medicolegal Death Investigator certification issued by ABMDI or must be willing to obtain certification within 18 months of employment and maintain certification while employed in this classification; FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 courses; must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability under the County's vehicle insurance policy.
