In continuing our goal of meeting the needs of every child, every day our school district began offering a Dual Language Program beginning in the fall of the 2023-24 at two elementary schools, Northside and Westside, with two additional elementary feeder schools, Royal Oaks and Creekside for Spanish-English bilingual programming. Northside Elementary School, a feeder school for Sun Prairie East High School, hosts students from Northside and Creekside Elementary Schools. Westside Elementary School, a feeder school for Sun Prairie West High School, hosts students from Westside and Royal Oaks Elementary Schools. Our Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programming is a 50/50 model (50% core instruction in English, 50% core instruction in Spanish) that started in Kindergarten and is moving into first grade in the 2024-25 school year. Qualifications: Bachelor\'s Degree in Education or a core subject area with additional coursework leading to a Bilingual certification Valid Wisconsin teaching certificates #395, #023 (ESL and Bilingual/Bicultural License), and (Kindergarten) or willingness to work towards becoming certified. Demonstrated Spanish and English fluency (Oral and written fluency will be assessed by the Sun Prairie Area School District) The Sun Prairie Area School District will work with qualified candidates who need visa sponsorship to obtain a J1 visa through a nationally recognized sponsorship program. In this case, the applicant must be a licensed teacher. Experience working with a diverse student population preferred (racially, culturally, socioeconomically varied).
