Planate Management Group LLC HVAC Technician Supervisor in Marshall Island, Maine
Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa, that provide program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
We are looking for a Certified/Licensed HVAC Technician Specialist to lead a team of Journeyman HVAC Technicians and other personnel in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems on defense sites across the Kwajalein Atoll. You will be reporting to Public Works Director, to ensure efficient system operations, mentors team members, and maintains high standards of service and safety.
This position is contingent on contract award, this is due by March 18, 2025, with a project duration of six months to a year.
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor HVAC teams by providing hands-on guidance, technical training, and support to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to project requirements.
Help install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including water chillers, evaporators, condensers, package units, split systems, and window units, as well as refrigeration compressors, refrigeration units, walk-in freezers, reach-in freezers, and cold storage facilities.
Diagnose and repair HVAC electrical circuits and operations for 110V, 208V, and 460V systems.
Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration units ranging from 2-ton to 80-ton capacity to ensure optimal system reliability and performance.
Ensure full compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and operational procedures while maintaining a safe working environment and upholding best practices in HVAC system installation and maintenance.
Ensure that the team performs required contract work in accordance with design documents.
Review engineering shop drawings and verify contractor compliance with final design parameters.
Observe onsite construction to ensure construction elements are properly installed, formed, and executed.
Perform quality assurance tasks, inspect contractor work, enforce corrective actions, ensure materials meet contract requirements, review contractor submittals for compliance, and resolve conflicts.
Monitor the construction contractor’s quality assurance and safety program to ensure adherence to project standards.
Track construction progress against the project schedule and submit weekly progress reports with recommendations based on technical reviews and field inspections.
Conduct technical inspections of mechanical engineering elements within the project.
Interpret and understand mechanical engineering drawings and how they integrate with other engineering disciplines.
Prepare construction reports detailing progress, challenges, and recommendations.
Identify potential construction issues and propose effective solutions to maintain project integrity and timelines.
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (must provide a copy)
Must have Master Specialist HVAC Technician Certification.
Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience with CHS/CCS and HVAC systems.
At least 3 years in a lead, supervisory, or managerial role, overseeing an HVAC workforce.
Strong English proficiency, including speaking, reading, writing, and typing.
Ability to communicate effectively, conduct presentations, and brief Government personnel.
Certified by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) in HVAC Commissioning Process and Standards.
