What You'll Be Doing
Job Summary: The Construction Manager (CM) reports to the E&I Global Construction Manager and is accountable for all aspects of capital project Construction Management across assigned projects for the E&I Business. The CM is the Subject Matter Expert regarding the implementation strategies and execution of all construction activities supporting assigned capital projects for the business. The CM role is expected to lead Capital construction projects for E&I sites. The CM must collaborate/interface with the Regional Capital Execution Leaders, Site Engineering Leaders and directly with the Project Team Leaders (PTL) at the manufacturing sites to ensure that the full range of capital engineering capabilities are in place to efficiently and effectively execute projects in a safe and cost-effective manner. Success is measured by safety performance, predictable project cost and spending, schedule compliance, quality of facilities for projects under their responsibility. Successful candidates would be expected to manage multiple projects with support from E&I leveraged resources and travel 75% of the time to current US sites with potential future global travel.
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Ensures construction contracting processes for assigned capital projects at multiple plant sites are executed safely and efficiently.
Ensures effective communication with any contracted Construction Management (CM) service. Ensuring expectations are met in all areas including core values, productivity, quality cost and schedule
Ensure appropriate Construction inputs are provided in a timely manner to influence and determine construction execution strategies during the FEL process. Bring site organizations/competencies to bear throughout End to End project process in alignment with Owner’s Role.
Partner with potential Contractor Construction Management (CM) resources and capability to enable safe and efficient execution of field construction activities.
Challenge internal understanding, and alignment of the Owner Construction needs and objectives to better represent the owner’s interest during early FEL prior to engaging the contractor.
Ensure all construction processes strictly adhere to the Corporate/ Business Intellectual Property (IP)/ Trade Secrets (TS) content policy.
Implement execution metrics with targets and improvement actions to drive construction execution excellence.
Accountable to ensure development and implementation of Project Quality Plans, including auditing work processes and deliverables for compliance, and for meeting agreed upon project quality requirements and expectations for Construction Competency.
Works closely with Capital Engineering Leader, Regional Capital Execution Leaders and Global Construction Manager to develop appropriate execution strategy for major projects.
Ensures engineering deliverables are at the appropriate level of completeness/quality and consistent with delivering successful projects to the businesses in preparation for each Gate Review.
Partner with PTL’s regarding Construction competencies specific to assigned projects, ensuring strong leadership and overall project success.
Collaborate effectively with all customers and stakeholders. Including Plant personnel as well as Contract Partners and EPC firms as required.

Ideal Background
Education: Engineering Degree or demonstrated equivalent competency through construction work experience.
Licensing: General Contractors License is highly preferred.
Experience: This position requires a minimum 10 years of direct experience as a Construction Manager on major/ complex Capital projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Wide knowledge of all project disciplines including safe execution of high-risk activities with appropriate mitigation plans.
Owner signoff on critical lifts and development of project safety plans and construction hazard reviews
Demonstrated track record of achieving business and project results on capital projects as a critical leader.
Demonstrated strong Construction Competency Expertise which requires extensive experience through assignments in areas such as: Project Leadership, Construction Management, and Contract Administration.
Mastery knowledge of construction contracting strategies and contract management
Commissioning and startup coordination to ensure successful operational handoff.
Project size range 200M to 60MM
Demonstrates ability to effectively direct and influence leadership across multiple sites and regions.
Must exhibit strong leadership skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrates a value for diversity.
Demonstrated excellence in communicating, planning, networking, organizing, influencing and resolving conflict.
Demonstrated ability to lead major change with a bias for decision making.
Ability to Travel Internationally
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.
Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as a fire-retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hat.
