ROLE
The Senior Staff Accountant role at Applied Technical Services involves utilizing advanced accounting knowledge to support the Corporate Accounting department in financial month-end close and consolidations. Responsibilities include overseeing month-end procedures, assisting with audits, mentoring staff accountants, handling fixed asset accounting, tax filings, and supporting Accounts Payable, among other duties.
Responsibilities:
Perform and review month end close procedures for multiple subsidiary businesses including preparing and reviewing journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
Assist with the annual external audit
Work with departments and subsidiaries across the organization to resolve issues or research Accounting related issues, processes or system migrations
Mentor and train staff accountants
Fixed Asset accounting, research, identification, entry and depreciation based on corporate policies
Prepare and file monthly state sales and excise taxes
File and/or review Census Bureau quarterly and annual forms
Various efforts to support Accounts Payable
Maintain portions of the department’s SharePoint site including close calendar and roster
Other duties or projects as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred.
3+ years of progressive accounting experience
Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization
Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems.
