Job Title: Mechanical Designer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer with experience in medical device design and a strong aptitude for both electrical and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience using SolidWorks and a proven history of designing injection molded parts.
Responsibilities
Design and develop components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
Create detailed drawings and prototypes for new designs.
Collaborate with engineers and technicians to communicate concepts and sketches.
Design electrical and mechanical systems, including capital equipment such as infusion pumps, CT, MRI, X-Ray, ventilators, dialysis machines, and surgical equipment.
Develop and design injection molded parts, with experience designing at least 10 parts and preferably over 50.
Design fixtures for test methods, lab equipment, and production/manufacturing processes.
Integrate electrical and mechanical components in designs.
Participate in document change orders and maintain design documentation.
Essential Skills
CAD/drafting degree from a 2-year technical college.
5 to 10 years of experience using SolidWorks.
Experience in medical device design.
Ability to design using both electrical and mechanical systems.
History of designing at least 10 injection molded parts.
Ability to ideate and sketch different concepts.
Component and assembly modeling experience.
Proficiency in creating drawings and prototypes.
Experience with product design, especially capital electrical and mechanical systems.
Extensive fixturing design experience for test methods, lab equipment, and production/manufacturing.
Ability to integrate electrical and mechanical components in designs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with Grand Avenue Software.
Experience with master reference geometry that links to multiple child parts.
Strong communication skills to clearly convey concepts and ideas.
Work Environment
This position is 100% on-site and offers a highly collaborative workspace. You will work closely with four other members of the Mechanical Team and have access to a 3D printer to test designs. The team is dedicated to developing state-of-the-art medical devices, including a breakthrough minimally invasive therapy for prostate cancer.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $51.00/hr.
