RELX INC Book Royalties Analyst II in Manila, Philippines

Accountabilities:

  1. Reconciliation

    Assemble, format and distribute monthly exception reports: Sales Not in Contract [SNIC], Unassigned Royalty Rate [URR], and Suspended Sales. Review the data and apply macros according to standard procedures; review for reasonableness and accuracy. Distribute reports to the department, ensuring each title with revenue above threshold is assigned to an analyst for completion. Provide tracking and trending analysis for all reports on monthly basis and be able to answer queries as they arise. Update procedural documentation as necessary. Support VIP statement review prior to payouts validating all sales before review with publishing and final statement run.

  2. Analysis

    Analyze and interpret contracts for royalty and subsidiary rights terms before entering them into the royalty system. Review and approve contract terms within Alliant, meeting individual metrics as stated in Key Performance Objectives. Perform (lead as directed) testing efforts in support of new product releases; identifying gaps and raising concerns timely.

    Assist with new company acquisitions/divestitures. Independently own special project assignments, including researching and resolving royalty payment issues involving complex technical calculations.

  3. Communication

    Follow up and respond to unresolved author and business units concerns. Answer author, business unit and attorney inquiries. Respond to phone, mail, and e-mail inquiries in a timely manner.

  4. Royalty Maintenance

    Assist with monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual royalty pay out. Load any adjustments or changes ensuring author statements and checks are mailed in a timely manner.

    Load contracts and subsidiary terms into royalty system accurately and in a timely manner.

    Review and process all advance requests, ensuring contract has been loaded and check request is within the authorized amount of the contract.

    Load any adjustments needed for the royalty payout accurately and timely.

    Research old outstanding checks on bank reconciliations prior to being moved to unclaimed property account.

    Assist with any other miscellaneous project assigned.

Qualifications:

· Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related course

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Excellent analytical, mathematical and organizational skills;

· Ability to manage multiple assignments at any given time and prioritize them effectively and appropriately.

· Two - Four years business experience in a customer service, finance or contracts related environment

· Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills required.

· Must be able to interpret and analyze publishing contracts.

· Must be able to meet deadlines consistently and effectively while working under pressure.

· Must display a thorough understanding of formal accounting principles including accruals, GL and tax.

· Experience using an enterprise business system and billing and fulfillment systems. Familiarity with Alliant is a plus.

· Must possess strong computer skills, including proficiency using Microsoft Office’s Excel and Word.

· Willingness to work overtime during peak perIods.
