Our Strategic Sales Operations (SSO) career path is your opportunity to help Jacobs win work so we can tackle our clients’ challenges and lay the foundation for human progress. Supporting a variety of business development assignments, Jacobs Document Publishers transform ordinary electronic documents into clean, clear, attractive publications. Working independently or with a Graphic Designer, they use page layout, formatting, and typography to create both electronic and print deliverables of varying size and complexity.

Our Document Publishers’ diverse range of skills include document design, formatting, and proofreading, thereby allowing them to shepherd a deliverable from conception to production and delivery. All members of our SSO team are expected to be self-starters who: develop creative solutions to tackle challenges; are team players ready to support each other; and have a vested interest in Jacobs’ success.

Prior Architectural/Engineering & Construction and/or Proposal and Sales experience a plus. Applicants must be prepared to flex their working hours as needed to align with peers in North America. Must have flexibility to work overtime hours and on weekends as needed, especially for deadline-driven assignments.

Each day will present different activities and opportunities as you help position Jacobs for success in our sales efforts. Our Senior Document Publishers will be responsible for the following general activities:

  • With no supervision, collaborates with Sales team members by creating templates and formatting qualification statements, proposals, presentations, and other business development/sales deliverables

  • Expert at setting up a Jacobs branded master document with styles per client specifications in RFP, including margins, headers/footers, font size and style, paragraph spacing, etc.

  • Advanced proficiency and creativity in creating and styling tables, charts, text boxes, simple graphics

  • Produce work that meets quality and brand requirements

  • Monitor and hold self to proposal schedule

  • Keen eye for detail to ensure document is compliant and to provide proofreading for accuracy, consistency, etc.

  • Voices concerns and ideas to proposal teams so that document is of the utmost quality and compliance to Jacobs and client standards; offers ideas for improvements or visual appeal

  • Actively follow SSO procedures, policies, protocols, and best practices, including standard file management and archiving procedures, as well as Branding Guidelines

  • Foster strong, mutually beneficial working relationships with Operations, SSO staff, Creative Services, Geographic Sales, GBS, and Sales Enablement teams both locally and across the network

  • Manages multiple project assignments at a time, sets priorities, manages time, and organizes work according to best practices

  • Understand company markets, partner/competitor/subconsultant firms, clients, and industry trends

  • Must be able to coordinate and collaborate with team members in remote locations, in different time zones

  • Identify and implement creative solutions to challenges; escalate to leadership as necessary

  • Share technical expertise with others and provides guidance and support

  • Mentors junior and/or new team members in technical area

  • Integrates project management skills with expert technical knowledge

Sales Strategy

  • Evaluate and resolve problems independently by applying appropriate solutions and applies lessons learned to future efforts

  • Possess understanding of objectives and services provided by the firm

  • Enhances company image/brand on deliverables

  • Understand firm branding concepts and instructs others

Sales Operations Functions and Processes

  • Expert knowledge of processes and technical concepts required for role

  • Expert proficiency in desktop publishing software, Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat; some proficiency in specialized applications such as Adobe InDesign

  • Apply technical expertise gained through extensive experience on a broad range of projects

  • Follow and champion Jacobs best practices using standard tools and processes

  • Offer suggestions to leadership for improvements/additions and lessons learned to streamline processes, procedures, tools/databases, and function of SSO

  • Works within firm branding templates and guidelines

Jacobs/Industry Acumen

  • Advanced understanding of business objectives and services provided

  • Understand how personal efforts help achieve Jacobs goals

  • Safeguard and implement company image/branding on all proposal assignments

  • Follow Jacobs health/safety and ethical policies, procedures, and guidelines; and escalate issues as appropriate

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Experience in publishing (electronic and/or reprographics) experience (or equivalent)

  • Software training in Microsoft products

  • Experience in hard deadline environment

  • Previous experience working in A/E/C industry
