The Work

Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking a full-time Software Engineer. . In this role, you will perform tasks including designing, developing, and deploying containers using Kubernetes in a Linux Operating environment, ensuring they are optimized for performance, security, scalability, and high availability. You will develop and maintain Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling, implement interprocess communication within containers, optimize GPU performance, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of containerized applications with other systems and services. You will also critical item test future capabilities, both hardware and software, going from concept to deployment working with a cross-discipline team.

This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate will be required to hold an active government Secret security clearance.

Basic Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.

• Proficient in C++ and Javascript

• Experience in developing real time systems

• Development, integration, troubleshooting experience with the Linux/Unix Operating System.

• Experience with designing and building containers with Kubernetes for efficient deployment and management.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with GPU optimization within containers

• Proficiency with RKE2

• Proficiency with KubeVIP

• Experience with Agile development methodologies

• Experience and version control systems such as Git or SVN

• Knowledge of interprocess communication within containers and pod networking

• Proficiency with Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling

• Knowledge of designing containers to be highly available

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
