Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries Fab 8 is seeking a highly skilled and motivated student to become part of our 300mm factory in Malta, New York. This process engineering role will be responsible for the development and optimization of robust measurement recipes across multiple tool fleets. The engineer will also be expected to support new product development, as well as leveraging their expertise to improve existing processes. Specific duties include recipe management, tool qualification and SPC chart review, running measurement matching studies (GR&R), NPI support. The ideal candidate can demonstrate a technical mastery of semiconductor metrology techniques and an understanding of a balanced scorecard approach to develop, sustain, and improve semiconductor technologies with quality, cost, and delivery all considered.

Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with GlobalFoundries internal customers and participate in development/manufacturing of unit process for various technologies including FinFET & Si Photonics.

  • Work on various patterning metrology tools such as CDSEM & Overlay.

  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments to screen and optimize module unit process and equipment to meet technology (e.g., performance, yield, and reliability) and manufacturing (e.g., process stability, cost of ownership) targets.

  • Work with integration and device groups in the technology development and the manufacturing teams to plan and execute projects and implement solutions on schedule.

  • Engage with metrology tool suppliers to highlight new process requirements and evaluate new equipment solutions.

  • Define and maintain module metrology process and equipment roadmaps.

  • Sustain production line, daily SPC monitoring, Cpk improvement, and troubleshooting support for process and tool issues.

  • Perform metrology Tool setup, qualification and tool matching activities.

  • Improve process robustness for high volume manufacturing using statistical tools, DOE techniques, data-driven decision making, and systematic problem-solving skills. Use lean manufacturing and six sigma processes.

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts in support of throughput improvement, cost reduction, and yield learning.

  • Use Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to assess and mitigate risk for manufacturing processes and change point management.  

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education – Graduating with Bachelor’s in Chemical or Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics or related field from an accredited degree program.

  • Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and proven good academic standing.

  • Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior related internship or co-op experience.

  • Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.

  • Project management skills, i.e. the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong planning & organizational skills

Expected Salary Range

$52,500.00 - $107,000.00
