Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries Fab 8 is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineer to fill Facilities Engineering Position in the Facilities Department covering the Ultra-Pure Water and Wastewater Treatment. The positions will support the ongoing operations of Facilities Systems required to support our 300mm Wafer Fabrication facility located in Malta, New York. Additionally, this engineer position will ensure all Facilities Systems maintain regulatory compliance and meet all City, State, and Federal guidelines. Finally, this position will lead to continuous improvement initiatives required to improve equipment reliability and reduce operational costs.

Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Successfully complete all the duties required by the Systems Owner for Ultrapure Water Treatment and associated sub-Systems.

  • Systems include monitoring SAP PM, SPC, FMCS and continuous improvement projects to improve safety, reliability and reduce operating costs.

  • Develop, implement, and sustain preventative maintenance programs as required to sustain the UPW operations.

  • Develop effective Standard Operational Procedures (SOP’s) for assigned equipment and systems and compile data to support optimized operations of all UPW unit operations.

  • Sustain and drive improvements of SPC system to ensure constant uptime of all the systems within the UPW Treatment Plant with OCAP’s for OOC (out of control) events.

  • Actively review and approve/ provide input to design packages as required to increase capacity, support process changes, and improve reliability of Facilities Equipment

  • Review and approve all new installations following the GlobalFoundries Fab 8 Commissioning Process

  • Actively identify and implement continuous improvements to operate system efficiently and to improve system uptime.

  • Close interface with the Tool Installation Team on point of use assignments and to coordinate the utility turn on process to meet the site requirements.

  • Utilize all Safety and Operational Risk Control procedures to coordinate work activities to support GlobalFoundries' goal of zero safety accidents and production impacts.  

  • Support construction, commissioning and startup of all new equipment and systems following the   GlobalFoundries   Fab 8 Commissioning Process.

  • Actively participate in problem solving sessions with Process and AME tool owners to develop hypotheses and DOEs and to generate corrective and preventive actions.

  • Carryout FMEAs and HAZOP analysis to identify system deficiencies and propose improvements to improve efficiency and system uptime.

  • Provide weekly management reports to status ongoing projects, incident reviews, and weekly activities.

    Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or chemistry with Relevant experience in engineering.

  • 6+ Years of Experience in semiconductor industry in facilities or manufacturing engineering position or Water/Waste treatment (Operations/engineering)

  • Dynamic, resourceful self-starter with good analytical, organizational, leadership skills and interpersonal skills

  • Experience using structured problem-solving techniques and lean tools.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Available and willing to flex work hours as needed to support emergency operational issues

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in chemical engineering

  • Experience with semiconductor UPW / Wastewater treatment operations.

  • Semiconductor Manufacturing experience

  • Advanced experience with SPC, Structured problem solving (8D- Approach) and SAP systems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong planning & organizational skills

Expected Salary Range

$91,600.00 - $170,000.00

The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
