The opportunity

The Head of Resourcing, Development & Engagement - Manulife China Bank Life Assurance Corporation (MCBL) is responsible for the attraction, retention, and enablement of the right people to support our business objectives. The incumbent will develop and implement end-to-end strategies and initiatives around recruitment, training, leadership development, performance management and employee engagement aligned with overall company strategy and business objectives.

Leveraging customer segmentation data, bank strategy and priorities, as well as Manulife’s global and local capabilities, the incumbent will develop and execute key initiatives and strategies aimed at tapping new opportunities in new and existing segments within the bank, through digital, new products and propositions, as well as data analytics. The incumbent is expected to work closely with MCBL and Manulife Philippines colleagues as well as counterparts in China Bank to drive key priorities to grow our business.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop Performance Enablement Strategy and Roadmap aligned with Manulife, MCBL and China Bank strategy and priority initiatives

  • The incumbent will lead a team supporting the following areas:

  • Recruitment – Responsible for the attraction and onboarding of MCBL Sales Team that are capable and qualified to deliver on MCBL business objectives, deploying targeted recruitment campaigns and leverage data-driven assessment tools and analytics throughout the process

  • Distributor Experience – Responsible for developing and enhancing the end-to-end distributor journey to give MCBL Sales Team the necessary tools and change management support to succeed and address pain points to ensure talent retention and upward career mobility.

  • Leader Development – Provide coaching and mentorship to MCBL Sales Leaders to empower them to motivate their teams, drive sales objectives, and be on the ground coaches and trainers for their sales teams; Develop organization capability of leaders to help assess team strength and composition to be able to structure the team to support business objectives

  • FSA Training – Responsible for Rookie Training Program to enable new recruits to quickly learn about MCBL products and processes, pass required regulatory exams, and be able to make an immediate impact on the business. Incumbent will also be responsible for continuing development training and change management support based on new products, focus propositions (ex. Health), and new technology / processes implemented (Change Management); Set-up success measures across different partners/players ensure accountability in FSA’s enablement/productivity

  • Employee Engagement – Overall lead for MCBL Employee Engagement programs including but not limited to Gallup Engagement Score and Actions, Townhalls and Coffee Chats, and internal communications

  • Performance and Validation Management – Lead the Sales Performance and Validation Management process to support sales leaders in performance coaching, discussions, and decisions for underperforming FSAs.

  • Communicate and present key insights, initiatives, and results related to Performance Enablement to stakeholders including Manulife, MCBL and China Bank leadership as well as sales frontliners to show overall progress of initiatives

  • Partner with regional and global colleagues to seek out, and leverage, opportunities to test, learn, and adapt new strategies and opportunities for MCBL in relation to performance enablement

  • Continuously monitor and communicate industry and competitive trends for bancassurance in relation to people strategy and performance enablement

  • Support MCBL President in ad-hoc strategic projects, reporting, and governance

Skill Set and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of the required capabilities, competencies and success profiles for successful salespeople in the insurance and financial services industries

  • Demonstrates passion for coaching and mentorship with a good understanding of how professional development and performance enablement can drive business objectives and sales growth

  • Relatable and strong presentation and communication skills that will allow the incumbent to translate strategy into easy-to-understand on-the-ground concepts that can easily be applied and executed

  • Can adapt communication and learning strategy based on target audience (leaders, FSAs, bank referrers etc)

  • Collaborates effectively with the team as well as internal, and external stakeholders while not afraid to constructively challenge current ideas and ways of thinking to better the business

  • Possesses a sense of ownership, accountability, and commitment to the work being developed and delivered

  • Comfortable with fast changing trends and evolution of strategic priorities and needs of customers, the business, and our partners

  • Strong leadership skills, particularly for cross-functional teams

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 10 years relevant experience, preferably in Insurance / Financial Services, in a Learning and Development, Talent Enablement and/or Sales Training Role

  • At least 5 years leadership experience in a relevant role and / or industry

  • Strong relationship and stakeholder management experience

  • Strong, relatable communication and presentation skills

  • Understands the Philippine insurance industry

  • Data driven in making decisions and crafting strategies
