TEKsystems Service Desk Technician in Madison, Wisconsin

Description:

We have an opening for a Service Desk Technician in Madison, WI. This role requires a broad range of general knowledge and an understanding of how different technology systems are related, in order to effectively diagnose and address issues. Strong technical reading and writing skills are necessary for referencing and contributing to the knowledge base. The primary responsibility of this role is customer communication. It's important to be able to effectively communicate with both customers and teammates, both verbally and in writing through tickets, chat, and emails.

The role involves handling phone calls through a call distribution system, so it's important to be aware of team dynamics and scheduling to ensure phone coverage. Responsibilities include initial troubleshooting of IT issues and requests reported through various channels such as phone, email, voicemail, portal submissions, and walk-ins, with the majority of communications being over the phone. A high level of helpfulness and technical aptitude is desired.

Ideal candidates will have call center experience with a formal ticketing system and familiarity with virtualized environments, specifically VMware VDI desktops. Previous support experience for Windows 10 and Office 2016 is highly desired.

The ideal candidate should have 1-2 years of experience in a call center environment and at least one year of verifiable helpdesk support experience. Previous experience in an IT support call center environment with a focus on resolving issues on first contact is preferred. The incumbent should also be familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures related to IT phone support.
