Job Summary

Senior Data Scientist is accountable for modeling complex problems, discovering actionable insights, and identifying opportunities hidden in vast amounts of data through use of machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistical analysis, mining and visualization techniques to enable better decision making. This role is responsible for integrating and preparing large, varied datasets, architecting specialized databases, and clearly communicating results.

This position offers a blend of working from home in the Madison, WI or Cedar Rapids, IA office. The successful candidate must reside in either Iowa or Wisconsin

What you will do

  • Designs experiments, tests hypotheses, and builds models to solve analytics problems.

  • Communicates results and methodologies to customers.

  • Works with the key stakeholders to define use case requirements to ensure that results are meaningful and enable improved decision making.

  • Works with the business to assess the validity of the data and achieve satisfactory levels of quality.

  • Combines multiple internal and external data sources.

  • Leads change and applies change management principles to promote cultural transformation and improve the adoption of analytics.

  • Collaborates with others responsible for analytics.

  • Assures the creation and maintenance of measurement systems for analytics including the tracking of results.

  • Works with technology teams to develop and implement analytical solutions in a production environment

  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in math, statistics, analytics, operations research, computer science, or related area Preferred

  • Master's Degree Preferred

Required Experience

  • 6 years of direct experience in a related field (statistics, performance management, analytics, research)

  • Experience working with Hadoop

Preferred Experience

  • 2 years experience as a Data Scientist

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL.

  • Proficiency in Visualization Tools such as Tableau, Power BI.

  • Demonstrated knowledge with pattern recognition, machine learning, predictive modeling, and descriptive inferential statistics preferred.

  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.

  • Works in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Pay Range:

$100,000-$126,072

This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
