JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: This Custodian position is a team member of the Wisconsin Union -Facilities Custodian Team during the Union Terrace season. Estimated to be April-October. Duties include routine maintenance and cleaning, trash removal and upkeep of the Memorial Union Terrace. Work is performed under the guidance of a Custodial Services Supervisor. Our organization, the Wisconsin Union, is the social heart of UW-Madison, providing events, facilities, and activities for students, staff, faculty, thousands of Wisconsin Union members, and visitors. The Union also provides hands-on leadership experiences for hundreds of UW-Madison students. Responsibilities: Cleans facilities, removes waste and recycling, and monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours. Ensures cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas. 80% Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables 5% Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities 5% Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed 5% Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs 5% Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison.
