Leprino Foods LUB Plant Accountant in Lubbock, Texas

For our future state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking a Plant Accountant. We take pride in our vision to be the "world's best." It's why we work harder, invest more, and continually innovate.

Leprino Foods broke ground on the $1 Billion facility in the summer of 2022. The plant will become operational in 2025 with Phase 1 and will become fully operational by 2026 with Phase 2!

The Accountant completes and maintains accurate and timely financial reporting for the Plant, and providing statistical analysis and production information relative to the plant operations. This job will also be responsible for mentoring the accounting clerical staff, overseeing inventory and production accounting reporting procedures and participating in Plant audits.

  • Leads and/or oversees the work, training, and ongoing evaluation of the clerical employees

  • Completes inventory accounting of finished goods and raw materials.

  • Reports on and analyzes production statistics for cheese, whey, and cheese processing (Yield & Efficiencies, Inventory, Usage, etc.).

  • Applies established accounting procedures for the control and audit of manufactured product and raw materials inventories.

  • Maintains a strong controls environment through testing and in-Plant reviews of adherence with established company policies.

  • Leads and/or oversees the work, training, and ongoing evaluation of the clerical employees

  • Completes timely and accurate payroll and accounts payable invoice processing.

  • Performs regular audits of plant payroll records and processes, identifies discrepancies, and recommends course for correction.

  • Maintains contact with plant suppliers and AP vendors as needed to process necessary AP activities.

  • Reports on and analyzes utility usages and presents to production management.

  • Participates in budget activities by performing analytical reviews and by completing financial reporting to determine variances and provide accurate financial forecasting and analysis.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or similar work experience in related industry

  • 3+ years of Accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Dairy/Cheese manufacturing experience
