Position Description:

Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operations and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgement.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Provides oversight and management of OLLI at TTU in Lubbock and affiliated sites (Fredericksburg, Highland Lakes, Abilene), by providing leadership, vision, and professional guidance. This includes providing supervision of, and direction to, the site coordinators and other divisional personnel as necessary, as well as the strategic planning for the Institute to achieve both annual and long-term goals.

  • Works collaboratively with OLLI staff and volunteers to develop and offer enrichment programs and activities for individuals ages 50 and older at each OLLI site (i.e. lectures, cultural events and excursions), as well as to recruit instructors and speakers.

  • Oversees OLLI's administrative operations and needs, support for instructors, OLLI members, and volunteers (including technology, space, equipment, and supply needs, office and classroom space, member benefits).

  • Develops and oversees marketing to increase awareness of OLLI at TTU, and to promote classes and events. Provides presentations, participates in community organizations, and holds special events to raise awareness and increase OLLI membership. Works with OLLI site coordinators to develop marketing, brand identify, recruitment events, and community engagement.

  • Works with the Vice Provost for Outreach and Engagement and the O&E Director of Finance to oversee and manage OLLI’s financial resources to ensure financial stability of the Lubbock and affiliated OLLI sites.

  • Represents OLLI at Texas Tech to various organizations (e.g., the Bernard Osher Foundation, community groups, university groups, and alumni), working strategically to grow OLLI membership at each site and program participation.

  • Participates in the national network of Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes and other lifelong learning programs to stay abreast of best practices, new programming ideas, and lifelong learning trends.

  • Develops, maintains, and updates as needed OLLI operating policies and procedures across sites in a consistent manner, as well as collects data for appropriate reporting to TTU and the Osher Foundation.

  • Builds mutually beneficial partnerships with TTU units and community organizations to further Texas Tech’s engagement goals.

Some courses are in the evening hours. Occasionally evening or weekend events.
