CITY OF LUBBOCK Communications and Web Design Specialist in Lubbock, Texas
: The purpose of this position is to lead and participate in the support of a variety of communication and marketing programs. This includes coordinating, designing and developing brochures, flyers, website and social media content updates, e-mail marketing and other traditional and emerging forms of promotion. Produce photography/graphic design to support written material. Assist with special events and other public communication duties as assigned.
: - Edit and produce internal and external newsletters, brochures, posters and other printed and electronic material from conception to finished product including design layout, writing content, taking photographs, shooting video, and creating graphics. - Write and edit news releases, opinion pieces, speeches, training presentations, and a variety of other written communications. - Write and edit content for the City of Lubbock Utilities social media sites and monitor Lubbock Power and Lightsocial media sites. - Produce content for the City of Lubbock'sUtilities and Lubbock Power andLight internal and external websites. - Analyze statistical data from a variety of communication tools, including City of Lubbock'sUtilities andLubbock Power andLightsocial media sites; - Assist utility departments with communication and media relation strategies and serve as an advertising and marketing resource. - Shoot still photographs of events and individuals or groups, either in studio or on location. - Serve as public information contact for the media when the department manager is unavailable. - AssistCity of Lubbock'sUtilities andLubbock Power andLightin crisis management, including communicating to the media and public during emergencies. - Oversee projects and daily duties of the Graphic Designer - Help develop departmental policies and protocols. - Able to assist citizens on an-as needed basis - Perform other duties as assigned.
: Completion of a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or a related field with an additional four to six years of experience in strategic marketing or communication managementor any combination ofrelevant education and experience which provides the following:
*Valid Current Driver's License*: Knowledge of: - Marketing techniques and principles; - Social media trends, digital communications and public relations campaigns or branding; - Graphic design and advertising; - Photography and/or video production.
***Ability/Skill to:*** - Basic web design, the use of desktop publishing and computer graphics software including Adobe, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign; - The use of equipment and practices related to audio visual, multi-image, graphics, printing, photography and journalism; - Excellent writing skills, including a command of grammar, usage and vocabulary, is required; - Strong attention to detail and proofreading is desired; - Capture quality photographs of people, places, and things; - Think strategically and creatively; - Understand market data, customer's needs and assess competitive issues; - Respond to requests or inquiries from the general public both orally and in writing; - Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including the general public and strategic partners; - Operate a personal computer. **Physical Requirements: ** - Frequently stand and walk; - Frequently flex upper truck forward; - Frequently lift up to 10 pounds; - Frequently push and pull objects; - Frequently flex upper trunk forward, partial flexing of knees; - Frequently reach above, at or below shoulder height; - Continuously talk, see and hear.Application must be submitted online at
