Purpose of the Role:

  • Provide extraordinary leadership through delivering outstanding results and setting clear strategic direction to your operational area to conduct the business.

  • Spending significant time engaging, motivating, and encouraging your team to deliver extraordinary performance (50-60% time on the shop floor).

  • Embed a strong Tier 1, fostering into Tier 2, leading and motivating the shift team to take accountability in all aspects of the balanced scorecard and morale, monitoring and process operations where possible.

  • Lead & advocate the MMS Program to develop performance, standards, capabilities, and asset care to exceed balanced scorecard targets. Set & achieve MMS departmental deployment plan building partnership with the Performance Improvement Leader.

  • Build an environment that supports an inclusive and positive culture, where people feel, they are listened to, valued, and developed.

  • Mentoring the team providing guidance and support to all immediate reports and their teams, to facilitate achievement of department targets and successful delivery of continuous improvement projects.

Key Accountabilities:

  • We own important targets across shifts, leading on T1 and T2 to handle and drive performance, and ensure safety is the number 1 priority.

  • Continuously aim for the next level of performance and ensure all team members do the same, have productive team meetings, ITF attendance etc.

  • Handling the risk profile within your department and working with the governance team to address issues

  • Set the annual AOP and deliver it, align with planning functions, and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly plans.

  • Interpret requirements e.g., Asset Care, 5S, and deploy resources to make it happen.

  • Ownership for Asset condition in your area, working to deliver the Asset Care plan along with Engineering Centre.

  • People Management activities- 1:1, handling performance/development, absence management, ER case management, Training, Recruitment, Succession Planning, Employee Onboarding, Union engagement, etc.

  • Develop team morale, recognize extraordinary performance, and take timely action to address underperformance where required

  • Conduct Permit Writing and Control of contractors, working as a team with the Site Management coordinator, where required.

  • RAMs approval

  • Responsible for budget within your Business Unit cost code

  • Sign off on Management checks

Problem-solving for performance:

  • Ensure accurate application of RCPS through role modeling and leadership. Raise 5 why’s as defined by agreed trigger points and lead situational problem solving on shift.

  • React immediately to issues as they are exposed. Own Accident reports and non-conforming product

  • Responsible for accurately recording and closing incidents on Entropy

  • Engage with the Daily Operational Review meetings to discuss persistent performance issues.

Leading Change for continuous improvement:

  • MOC process embedded and followed

  • Handle and establish the team capability

  • Influence support functions to support their improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Experience or relevant qualifications relating to Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma / Manufacturing Excellence is desirable

  • Relevant BTE qualification

  • The NEBOSH Health and Safety qualification is a pre-requisite for the role – if you don’t have it. Achieve this qualification and keep learning!

Experience:

  • Natural leaders with a proven record in leading a hard-working team

  • Confirmed experience in production management. Ideally in a shift based FMCG manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to handle people performance, mentor, and development of a multi-disciplined team

  • Proactive structured problem evaluation & solving skills learned through exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, TPM or Manufacturing excellence.

  • Experience of working in an exciting quality & customer focused FMCG environment.

  • Basic financial awareness, understanding of business drivers, budgeting processes.

  • Standard business (MS Office) and Diageo packages.

Excellence in Supply Chain:

  • Is experienced of working within the Performance Management structure of important metrics and Tier Review Meeting Structure

  • Has a consistent record in adherence to Core Process and Standards

  • Demonstrates role model behavior and coaches others to follow a consistent approach and go beyond required minimum requirements

  • Proactively demonstrates the learning curriculums and materials on Diageo Academy and other sources to continuously grow and develop in the role.
