UCLA Health Senior Custodian, Limited/Temporary - Ronald Reagan Medical Center in Los Angeles, California
Description
In this
role, you will perform a variety of duties in cleaning and sanitation under the
direct supervision of the Patient Services Manager and Supervisors.
Responsibilities
include:
Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping and waxing floors.
Washing walls, doors, windows, light fixtures, discarding trash in waste bins.
Clean, sanitize and reline all trash containers and linen hampers.
Wash and steam rubber floor mats.
Responsible for cleaning and proper storage of housekeeping equipment and report all equipment malfunctions to supervisor on duty.
Responsible for washing dishes, pans, utensils and small equipment according to established procedures.
Responsible for replenishing beverage station which includes making coffee, filling juice machine, refill pump condiments at condiment station, refilling CO2 tanks and syrup for the fountain machine. Refilling the creamer in flavored cream machine.
Adhere to prescribed safety and sanitation practices and procedures.
This is a Limited Temporary position and may be
extended or converted to Career depending on the needs of the department.
Schedule and working hours will vary.
Salary
Range: $19.47-25.16 Hourly
Senate
Bill 525 was signed into law by Governor
Newsom in October 2023. Starting June 1, 2024, SB525 sets a new $23 minimum
wage for nonexempt healthcare workers and raises the exempt employee salary
threshold to $1,380/week (equivalent to $5,980/month or $71,760/year).
- As
defined under SB525, healthcare workers are defined as employees who are
involved in the provision of 'health care services,' which means 'patient
care-related services including nursing; caregiving; services provided by
medical residents, interns, or fellows; technical and ancillary services;
janitorial work; housekeeping; grounds keeping; guard duties; business office
clerical work; food services; laundry; medical coding and billing; call center
and warehouse work; scheduling; and gift shop work; but only where such
services support patient care'.

Employees (career, contract, student, per diem) in the UCLA Health medical
facilities (e.g. Ronald Reagan Medical Center, Santa Monica UCLA Hospital,
Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, etc.) meet these criteria.
Qualifications
Ability to read and write, follow oral and written instructions in English language.
Ability to work in standing position for a long period of time, stretch, stoop, bend, climb, and reach repetitively.
Ability to work in hot, cold and/or wet areas; lift 40 lbs and push/pull 350 lbs.
Knowledge in the use, disposal, and labeling of chemicals used in a food service setting.
Ability to conform to dress code and work in a non-smoking environment.
Ability to practice safe food handling techniques.
Ability to adjust to fluctuating work load and work schedule.
Interpersonal skills and interact effectively with co-workers, customers, asst. managers and managers.
