In this role as the Assistant Director of Human Resources you would be responsible for assisting the Director in the direction of administration of the Human Resources function in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of (3) years of experience in Human Resources management/leadership role. Experience managing a union property and experience with mediations &arbitrationsis preferred. Luxury hospitality is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, a 4 year college degree is preferred. Considerable knowledge of Federal/State labor laws. Working knowledge of Federal and local regulations relating to OSHA and worker’s compensation. Ability to supervise/direct both subordinates and non-subordinate personnel. Must be able to manage conflict and problem resolution, conduct investigations, and manage the hotel's employee relations programs. Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish preferred.

What will I be doing?

  • Assist in overseeing, administering and communicating pertinent information regarding all Human Resources functions to include, but not limited to, recruiting, training and development, wage/benefit administration, compliance with statutory requirements, team member relations, labor relations and contract compliance, performance evaluations, workers compensation and safety, employment processes and general leadership guidance and support
  • Manage and supervise the daily activities of the Human Resources department, Manage relations with union representatives.
  • Manage workers compensation program.
  • Manage and leaves of absences, FMLA ,and personal leaves.
  • Participate in and facilitate meetings and monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward
  • Lead the hotel quality initiative, as needed.
  • Manages conflict and problem resolution, conduct investigations and leads all Team Member relations.
  • Ensure Affirmative Action Plan compliance by training management on the hotels goals and interview and selection methods.
  • Leads the hotel’s quality program which involves a complete understanding of the standards and reporting format as well as the creation/design of related training and incentive programs to encourage consistent guest service by all team members. Analyzes reports to determine areas where continuous improvement methods can best be utilized.
  • Manages the hotel's employee relations programs, including picnics, holiday parties, health fairs, employee communication sources, etc. and coordinates and directs staff through detailed oral and written instruction to facilitate successful completion of all related events/programs. Designs and implements new programs as may be needed for special promotions, events, or programs (e.g. safety, Olympics, blood drives).
  • Oversee the overall function of TMX HRIS System including, but not limited to all PAF data entry, separations, report generating, and other related functions. Responds to and negotiates on behalf of the hotel, all claims for unemployment.
  • Supervises departmental and hotel staff regarding all issues relating to worker's compensation to endure minimum exposure by the hotel to related expenses.
  • Assists in or prepares periodic reports relating to the Human Resources function (e.g. EEO, labor turnover, payroll analysis, operational budget) through the use of a moderately complex computer system and written reports.
  • Assists in the recruitment, selection and training of new personnel, utilizing internal and external sources/programs to attract and train qualified candidates.
  • Assist in the administration of all employee benefit programs, assuring timely processing of all related claims and employee awareness of available benefits.
  • Assist Training Manager in the development of all hotel personnel by developing or using predetermined programs and/or instruction staff in the skills and techniques required to perform their job in accordance to the standard determined by the corporation or the hotel.
  • Other duties and special projects as requested such as attend meetings in the absence of the Director.

The annual salary range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
