Job Title: Technician - Vehicle Sustainment

Job Description

Perform rebuild and retrofit tasks along with general assembly duties on LAV vehicles under the supervision of a qualified Technician. Clean vehicles and parts as directed by trained Technicians and assist in other functional areas as required. Prepare vehicles for interior and exterior painting by scuffing applicable surfaces, employing proper masking techniques, and removing rust. Understand and apply company safety policies and relevant Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations. Report any accidents, incidents, near misses, and injuries. Liaise with internal and external customers for resolution of data and technical issues. Follow company medical and first aid procedures, monitor parts usage, and report on any material issues while using safe work procedures.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply company safety policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

• Report any accidents, incidents, near misses, and injuries.

• Liaise with internal and external customers to resolve data and technical issues.

• Follow company medical and first aid procedures.

• Monitor parts usage and report on material issues.

• Use safe work procedures.

Essential Skills

• 310S or 310T License

• 1-2 years relevant experience in the operation and maintenance of armoured vehicles

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation

• Mechanical repair and retrofit skills

• Proficiency with hand tools

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Proficient communication, organization, and prioritization skills

• Experience working with teams and/or customers

• Ability to work in confined spaces and perform physical tasks such as lifting and climbing

• Ability to meet anthropometrical size restrictions for confined space

• Truck, coach, automotive interprovincial certification or qualified Military Fire Control Systems Technician or Military Electro-Optical Repair Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician

Work Environment

Work in a shop environment with shifts from Monday to Friday, either 6am - 2:30pm or 2:30pm - 11pm. Tasks may require various physical postures such as standing, sitting, squatting, kneeling, crouching, bending, lying down, and reaching at different heights. Work may involve confined spaces within vehicles, requiring vertical spaces of 105 to 135 cm, and tasks may include sitting, crawling, crouching, stooping, bending, twisting, kneeling, or lying down. Workers may need to lay on a creeper to complete work under vehicles with approximately 65 cm of vertical clearance. Climbing on/off vehicles through roof hatches, rear openings, and driver’s hatch may be required. Assemblers/FSRs often complete tasks in the same area of the vehicle while maintaining static or similar postures for extended periods.

This is a Contract position based out of London, Ontario.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $36.00/hr.
